Equipment Overview
- This type of heat exchanger is a storage‑type unit with a limited water‑holding capacity, capable of storing 1 to 3 minutes’ worth of hot water. It can rapidly replenish heat and, under conditions where the flow rates of the hot and cold media remain relatively stable, it maintains an optimal balance between heat supply and demand, thereby achieving constant‑temperature, variable‑flow water delivery.
- It is suitable for domestic water supply, heating water systems, and chilled water systems in general industrial and civil buildings. The heat exchange tube bundle consists of thin-walled copper or stainless steel tubes, offering excellent thermal conductivity.
- The heat transfer medium may be steam or high- and low‑temperature hot water; the tube side of the heat exchanger serves as the heat‑transfer‑medium passage, while the shell side functions as the cold‑medium passage.
Performance Features
- Automatic descaling: Within the vessel, the helical heat-exchange coil, driven by fluctuations in the thermal fluid’s temperature and pressure as well as by centrifugal forces and the dynamic scouring action of the heated water flow, can freely oscillate vertically and laterally while undergoing high-frequency vibrations. This prevents scale from adhering to the outer surface of the coil and promotes its automatic detachment, thereby providing an automatic descaling function.
- Excellent performance: The heat-exchange coil freely floats and expands/contracts vertically and horizontally within the shell, increasing turbulence between the heated water and the heat-transfer fluid, enhancing heat transfer, ensuring thorough heat exchange, and improving thermal efficiency.
- Energy-saving and efficient: The heat exchange coil is made of either red copper or stainless steel tubing, featuring self‑cleaning and automatic scale‑removal capabilities. Thanks to its smooth tube walls, it delivers high‑efficiency, long‑lasting heat transfer performance.
- Easy to maintain: The lower head is designed with a flanged connection, facilitating the removal of the tube bundle and enabling convenient maintenance of the heat exchange coils.

Frequently Asked Questions
Precautions for Shutting Down a Plate Heat Exchanger
When shutting down the heat exchanger, first slowly close the hot-side inlet valve, then slowly close the cold-side inlet valve, and finally close both the cold- and hot-side outlet valves. After all valves are closed, stop the pump; if necessary, open the drain valve.
Precautions for Starting a Plate Heat Exchanger
Inspect the clamping bolts and tighten them to the specified torque, ensuring even diagonal tightening. Verify that the inlet and outlet valves and the vent valve are in good condition and that all instruments are functioning properly. During startup, vent the system first, then introduce the cold medium before introducing the high‑temperature medium. Gradually open the inlet and outlet valves while carefully controlling the pressure differential between the two sides.
Precautions for Disassembling Plate Heat Exchangers
Before dismantling the plate heat exchanger, the clamping dimensions shall be measured and recorded. L; Loosen the clamping bolts alternately in a diagonal sequence.
Precautions for Storing Plate Heat Exchangers
Plate heat exchangers should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated warehouse, with the ambient temperature not exceeding 45 °C 。
When a plate heat exchanger has been out of service for more than six months, the internal fluid must be completely drained. It is advisable to loosen the clamping bolts in advance to ensure that the gap between the two clamping plates reaches 1.2 times L is recommended; clamp it to L when in use.
Causes of Leakage in Plate Heat Exchangers
1) Gasket aging; 2) System overpressure; 3) Loose clamping bolts causing external leakage; 4) Plate corrosion leading to internal leakage.
