Heat Exchanger Unit at the Zhejiang Petrochemical Co., Ltd. Plant Site

The “hundred-billion-yuan” refining and petrochemical project—the first phase of Zhejiang Petrochemical Co., Ltd.’s 40-million-ton-per-year integrated refining and petrochemical complex—has entered full-scale production. The project encompasses a total capacity of 40 million tons per year of crude oil refining, 8 million tons per year of paraxylene, and 2.8 million tons per year of ethylene, with a total investment reaching RMB 173 billion. It is regarded as the largest investment project ever undertaken by a private enterprise in China. Ametek supplied three sets of highly efficient, integrated heat‑exchanger units for the project’s chemical‑zone hot‑water stations (two sets have already been delivered). Each unit provides a heating capacity of 69.8 MW and produces 2,400 t/h of hot water, featuring a dual‑heat‑source configuration. The system incorporates two plate‑and‑shell heat exchangers and four 250 kW circulating pumps. Due to the sheer size of the equipment, our company adopted a segmented assembly approach, using 3D modeling to simulate and align connection points during fabrication, delivering components in bulk for on‑site secondary assembly. This meticulous process ensured that the final installation achieved “zero” deviation.

New World, Optics Valley, Wuhan

The Guanggu New World project is a landmark building in Wuhan’s Guanggu New Area, a multifunctional, integrated complex that combines a five-star hotel, Class-A office towers, a high-end commercial plaza, and fully furnished business apartments. As a leading domestic manufacturer of heat exchange equipment for high-rise buildings, Amatec has supplied plate heat exchangers for cooling and heating to more than 50 upscale business centers, providing robust assurance for the timely and smooth delivery of these projects. For the Guanggu New World project, Amatec provided 20 plate heat exchangers, featuring a temperature difference of 1°C and a design pressure of 25 bar. The superior quality of the equipment and its outstanding heat transfer efficiency have earned unanimous recognition from the client.

Tsinghua University

Shanghai Ametech has provided high-efficiency heat exchange equipment and a complete turnkey heat‑exchange system solution for this project, which has been implemented as a model university–enterprise collaboration within the Tsinghua University campus. Drawing on Ametech’s extensive expertise in pressure vessels and high‑efficiency heat exchangers, the project is tailored to meet the HVAC and thermal‑energy needs of university buildings, ensuring stable operation, low energy consumption, and minimal maintenance for research and teaching facilities. Adhering rigorously to relevant regulations for special‑purpose equipment and green‑building standards for campuses, the system delivers efficient heat transfer, contributing to energy savings and carbon reduction in campus infrastructure. This project serves as a benchmark example for Ametech in the education, culture, and research sectors, offering a practical reference case for the design and implementation of similar thermal‑energy systems in future university buildings.

Plain South City Park Geothermal Heating Energy Station Project

The clean heat‑source substitution project in the western urban area of Pingyuan County serves as a benchmark for large‑scale medium‑deep geothermal heating in Dezhou City. The project owner is Shunjing Energy, with a total heating area of 2.08 million square meters. It includes the construction of the Nancheng Geothermal Energy First‑Stage Heating Station and the installation of 54 medium‑deep geothermal wells, each 1,500 meters deep. The system employs a two‑stage heat‑extraction process: primary heat exchange via plate heat exchangers followed by cascade waste‑heat recovery using water‑source heat pumps. All geothermal return water is reinjected at the same aquifer level, achieving “heat extraction without water consumption.” Geothermal water at 59°C enters the plate heat exchangers to transfer heat for district‑level centralized heating; the spent water then undergoes further deep heat recovery through heat pumps before being fully reinjected underground. The first‑stage station is equipped with multiple large‑capacity plate heat exchangers, setting a standard for the large‑scale deployment of plate heat‑exchanger technology in geothermal district heating. Upon commissioning, the project will save 70,000 tons of coal annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 156,000 tons, making it a leading example of clean geothermal substitution at the county level in Shandong Province.

Smart Heating Platform

The Ametech Smart Heating Platform builds upon traditional heating information systems by integrating cutting-edge technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence, enabling customers to achieve comprehensive hydraulic balance across the entire heating network, conduct energy‑consumption analysis, and implement intelligent control—covering smart monitoring, smart operation, smart metering, smart analytics, smart customer service, smart inspections, smart maintenance, operational safety, and geographic information. By seamlessly integrating all components of the heating system and breaking down data and operational silos, the platform leverages AI to optimize operating conditions at every stage—heat sources, district heating networks, heat exchange stations, and user‑side systems—while aligning with government regulatory requirements. Its overarching goal is to deliver an integrated, unified management system that enhances the heating user experience, boosts the economic performance of heating utilities, reduces resource and energy consumption, and minimizes environmental impact.

Smart Unmanned Heat Exchange Station

The heat exchange station comprises a heat exchange system consisting of water-to-water heat exchangers, a circulating water system with circulating pumps, and a make-up water system equipped with make-up pumps. During the control process, numerous physical quantities—such as pressure, temperature, and flow rate—are acquired as analog signals, which are then collected and processed in real time by a PLC controller. The PLC-based control system of the heat exchange station automatically regulates key components, including the electric control valves on the primary network, the circulation system on the secondary network, and the make-up water system, thereby achieving fully automated operation of the entire heat exchange station.

Full-network balancing

The heating system is a complex, closed-loop system comprising a heat source, a district heating network, and heat consumers. During operation, factors such as design, construction, commissioning, renovation, expansion, initial balancing, and the varying stages of building development can lead to mismatches between flow distribution in the network and the demand at individual heat users, resulting in thermal imbalances characterized by uneven heating. To address these issues and enhance the operational efficiency of heating utilities, our system incorporates whole‑network balancing. Based on overall network load, pipeline characteristics, and heat‑source parameters, the system employs temperature‑based and heat‑quantity‑based algorithms to distribute the heat supplied from the power plant or primary station evenly across the network via a balanced operating mode, assigning optimal valve openings for each secondary heat exchange station and public buildings.

Integrated Information System for the Heat Source Plant

The comprehensive informationization of the heat source plant aims to integrate real-time data from all production control systems, establish a unified data-sharing platform, and enable applications such as real-time process monitoring and performance analysis. This will enhance safe, economical operations and improve energy efficiency and consumption reduction. Real-time data from each production system will be presented to the production management department in the form of intuitive visual displays and comprehensive, accurate production reports. Meanwhile, leveraging technologies such as the Internet of Things, the Internet, and big‑data analytics, the system will deeply mine production data to uncover energy‑saving potential, analyze relevant data across all production stages, and provide guidance for heating‑supply operations. These efforts will effectively elevate the plant’s management standards and strengthen the energy utilization and process‑control capabilities of the heating‑supply enterprise.
